Dan Neville

Hey my friends,

As many of you have heard, there was a devastating Earthquake that hit Colombia, with it's epicenter in the Chocó region and leaving many cities and rural areas affected, including Pereira, Manizales, Cali, Juanchaco, La Cafetera, and more.

Firstly: everyone in our circles and community is safe. As I experienced during the time that I was in Cali during the 2021 national protests, our news media here in the US doesn't accurately capture the details of how severe this earthquake was.

Here's a screenshot of a video-call that I made with a close friend in Cali, where he was contributing to help remove rubble as there were people trapped underneath.

We're trying to be creative in ways that we can support from afar.

Some close friends of mine in and outside of Colombia are organizing campaigns to send support, and I'm going to drop a few options in case you'd like to pitch in.

My good friend and collaborator Dami Molina launched this initiative for a a family that lost their house which doubled as a restaurant in Juanchaco, known for having amazing food and for supplying the family with economic stability: Help Fanny rebuild her house that was destroyed in Juanchaco (you can send via zelle to Damaris Molina - damimolina@gmail.com)

Colombia Pacific Earthquake & Creative Recovery is an intiative by good friend and collaborator Chaz Chambers, who runs Musical Getaways and recently opened a non-profiit, the CreativRole Project. They are distributing donations between various parties, including the house of la Familia Torres in Guapi, and other members of the community who lost their home in Buenaventura, Juanchaco and more.

I can forward donations to my close contact in Cali to purchase supplies for digging up rubble, medicine, lanterns, shovels, pick-axes and more; you can send me via zelle at localfreshvibes@gmail.com , and write in the memo “Earthquake Relief” . He is working with volunteers on the ground in real time.

While not a close contact, I have also referenced Juntos Por Chocó -it is a gofundme for the communty in Chocó, the epicenter of the earthquake.

I'm experimenting with Bandzoogle's email platform, and I'm in the process of moving all my contacts from Mailchimp to here.

  • Any thoughts or suggestions? Any strong recommendation to stay with Mailchimp?
  • If you have unsubscribed on mailchimp, and are receiving this please forgive me and simply unsubscribe to this. Some of the contacts were sent over even though they had been removed.

I'll have more updates dropping soon about our upcoming album recording with the Dan Neville Nonet, so stay tuned!

Take care and talk soon - Dan
