In Colombia's Pacific Coast, the guasá is a traditional shaker instrument central to currulao and the marimba de chonta tradition that inspires much of the Nonet's repertoire. Made from guadua, achira seeds, and chonta sticks, all sourced from the Colombian Pacific rainforest, its rhythmic shake carries the pulse of water through the music while anchoring the rhythm.
